John Senter Karnes was born in Senath, Missouri (Dunklin County), and lived there his entire life. He graduated from the University of Missouri in approximately 1926. He worked as an accountant for the lumber yard in Senath and various cotton gins in and around Senath including the Bertig Cotton Gin in Arbyrd. He was a WWII Veteran, and served in India.
